On September 13, 2024, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Syed Asim Munir, NI (M) visited troops in Orakzai District who had participated in the recently conducted counterterrorism actions in Tirah Valley and surrounding areas.
The COAS was comprehensively briefed on the overall security situation, ongoing intelligence-based counterterrorism operations, and the multi-pronged measures being undertaken to ensure stability in the Merged Districts. In his interaction with officers and troops, the COAS appreciated their high morale and readiness to effectively respond to all types of threats.
The COAS reiterated the resolve to comprehensively defeat hostile terrorist networks and eliminate illegal activities. Paying rich tribute to the Shuhada and Ghazis of the Army and law enforcement agencies (LEAs), the COAS stated that the hard-earned peace achieved through the nation’s great sacrifices would be maintained at all costs. The sacrifices of our martyrs strengthen our resolve to fight with utmost dedication and a spirit of sacrifice.
COAS lauded the contributions being made by the Police and LEAs in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). He stated, “Pakistan Army will continue to provide all out support to KP Police and other LEAs in enabling them to perform their duties in the newly merged districts”. He emphasized the need of continued capacity building of LEAs.
COAS also appreciated the support of local population in assisting security forces, noting that their positive role is essential in sustaining peace in the area.
Earlier upon arrival, COAS laid the wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada and was received by Corps Commander Peshawar.
