Going green is very important in this era of climate change and rising temperatures. Going green means being environmentally aware and making choices that reduce the harmful effects of our activities on the environment. It is a process that helps you to live in an eco-friendly way. It is about becoming closer to nature. Here are the steps we need to follow to make our lives healthy, pleasant, and eco-friendly.
Add Green to your Plate
The development, health, and beauty of a person's body depend upon the food he eats. The more good quality food we eat, the more energetic our body will be. We have to make our plates green which means that we have to give priority to healthy food and avoid unhealthy food. We have to change our eating habits by filling our plates with vegetables and fruits. Eat more fruits, and vegetables and add salad to your meal. Avoid junk food or meat which is harmful to health and eat plant-based food.
Make your Home Green
Production of organic food and farming is essential. Organic food is produced without using synthetic chemicals. The usage of plastic-made products in our daily has increased. The chemicals used in plastic, leach into food and beverages which cause diseases. We need to make efforts to make plastic-free kitchens. To remove plastic from the kitchen, using stainless steel or glass containers can be a better step.
Grow your own Garden
Growing our gardens to make our homes green means. Growing plants and vegetables in our houses provides fresh and healthy food as well as keeps us active physically. Plants, not only keep the house green and provide oxygen but also play an important role in keeping our mood happy and bring positive changes in our attitudes. It keeps our mind and body healthy.
Keep Earth Green
Climate change is a fact and global warming is rising. Forests are not just a cluster of trees but the entire ecosystem, which includes weeds, insects, birds, wild animals, etc. The process of deforestation and burning forests disrupts the entire ecosystem. Deforestation increases air pollution as the lack of trees increases the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Many valuable animal species are at risk of extinction due to habitat loss caused by deforestation and the risk of soil erosion also increases when excessive trees are cut down.

Planting new trees is sadqa and is the best solution to combat climate change. Our dear Prophet (PBUH) said, "There is none amongst the Muslims who plant a tree or sow seeds, and then a bird, or a person or an animal eats from it, but is regarded as a charitable gift for him."(Sahih Bukhari)
By following the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle) earth can be pollution free. Buying only what we need and choosing the items we can use again can minimize the waste we create. Water is a great blessing and a precious resource should not be wasted. We can use fabric bags instead of plastic ones. We can use a water bottle or mug instead of buying a new one from the market. Instead of throwing items such as bottles etc. in a new way. Flower plants can be planted in such pots which are not useable.
E-waste includes waste from electrical appliances such as computers, printers cell phones, etc. It is not biodegradable. Electrical devices' lifespan is short. We should repair our devices instead of making them part of rubbish as it leaves toxic effects on human health. E-waste and industrial waste thrown into rivers and oceans pose risks to aquatic life. “You can't protect the environment unless you empower people, you inform them, and you help them understand that these resources are their own, that they must protect them.” (Wangari Mathai)
Make your Lifestyle Green
What we need to make positive changes to our lifestyles. We should particularly use items which are environment friendly. We can replace tissues with towels, plastic bags with fabric bags, and replace plastic with stainless steel. We should prefer natural products for our skin and should cook only what we need to eat to avoid wastage of food. Inform others about green living.
