On July 10, 2024, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, visited Russia and met with Deputy Defense Minister, Colonel General Alexander Fomin, Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Aleksandr Venediktov, and Deputy Chief of General Staff of Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Colonel General S. Y. Istrakov.

During the meetings, the participants underscored the importance of enhancing cooperation in multiple domains, including connectivity, trade, energy, and security. They discussed areas of mutual interest, including bilateral military and military-technical cooperation, the regional security situation, and the menace of terrorism. Both sides expressed interest in strengthening the bilateral military-to-military relationship.
