I have been reading this magazine for quite some time now and I can positively say I wait for it every month. This magazine is the companion of my ‘me-time’ when I want to have a quick read on a topic of my choice.
As I look forward to every month’s theme, I am always pleasantly surprised at how Team Her caters to it. This magazine has enlightened me not only about harsh truths but also about cherished memories. I especially enjoy the accounts of our female armed personnel as they journey to war-torn countries and help the UN peacekeeping missions. Seeing them donning their uniforms, armed in their gear, and determined in their gait, I feel pride not only in our country but in our feminine sex as well. I am awed by how the assumed gentler sex can carry their arms with strength and fortitude without falling out of step.
Since I started reading Her, I came to be aware of multiple medical issues that women encountered yet never discussed with anyone. The female anatomy is a complex one and while our socio-cultural norms make most of them taboo, Her manages to speak of them with unrestricted elegance. The expert opinion of Her’s writers has helped me breach many a medical conversation barrier with my family and friends.
I was happy to see changes made in the magazine for June. The mundane make-up tricks and nail care were a pleasure to read. I read Dr. Shaista Lodhi’s on acne and realized I really had been believing in myths without doing any research. I wish to read more of her opinion in the future.
I really hope that Her keeps up the pace. I am looking forward to seeing more expert opinions and having my readership enhanced by the information Her gathers from all over Pakistan.
Mrs. Sikandar,
Karachi.
