On May 14, 2024, Secretary General of Defense and National Armaments, Italy, Lieutenant General Luciano Portolano called on Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), General Sahir Shamshad Mirza at Joint Staff Headquarters (JSHQ).

During the meeting, matters of mutual professional interests, including further strengthening of security and defense cooperation, specifically in the field of defense production, were discussed. CJCSC reiterated that Pakistan and Italy enjoy cordial relations based on convergence on all important issues relating to peace and security.
The Secretary General lauded the professionalism of Pakistan's Armed Forces and acknowledged their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
