The Pakistan Day Parade, held annually on March 23, commemorates the nation's struggle for independence and serves as a symbol of patriotism and unity. The 84th parade featured participation from friendly nations' armed forces, showcasing solidarity and cooperation. Dignitaries, military commanders, and esteemed guests attended the event, which included displays of various regiments, fly-pasts, cultural floats, and thrilling performances. The parade highlighted Pakistan's indomitable spirit and commitment to safeguarding its freedom and dignity, resonating with the nation's aspirations and showcasing the professional capabilities of its armed forces.
Speaking at a parade in Islamabad, the President of Pakistan paid tribute to the commitment and sacrifices of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and his comrades. He remarked that the Pakistani people are “hard working and intelligent” and that the youth will make great use of the resources at their disposal for the country’s progress and a brighter future.
He underscored that enduring peace in South Asia hinges on the resolution of the Kashmir dispute in line with United Nations Security Council resolutions. He assured the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) of Pakistan's unwavering support in their just struggle against oppression. Regarding the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, President Zardari urged the international community to promptly cease the killing of innocent Palestinians, declare a ceasefire, and establish a humanitarian corridor.
The President reiterated Pakistan's stance as a peace-loving and responsible nuclear state seeking amicable relations with all neighbors. “However, let me make it clear that we will not compromise on our sovereignty. Our nation and armed forces are always ready to respond to any aggression at all times.”
Meanwhile, India has witnessed the rampant and unlawful destruction of Muslim homes, businesses, and places of worship, often with tacit approval from federal and state governments. Initially affecting five states, including Assam, Delhi, and Gujarat, this pattern of injustice has now spread to others, including IIOJK.
International organizations have occasionally raised concerns about these punitive actions, viewing them as part of a broader hate campaign against minority Muslim communities. They have urged the Indian government to halt forced evictions, provide adequate compensation to those affected, and hold perpetrators accountable. However, such appeals have largely been ignored, with right-wing politicians and authorities in India glorifying this ruthless crackdown as 'bulldozer justice'.
India's recent completion of the Shahpurkandi Barrage on the Ravi River signifies a significant shift in water management dynamics, particularly concerning its relationship with Pakistan. Located on the border between Indian Punjab and IIOJK, this infrastructure development has halted the flow of water into Pakistan, raising concerns about potential repercussions. Media reports have shed light on India's strategic reallocation of 1150 cusecs of water from Pakistan's share to benefit the IIOJK region, specifically Kathua and Samba districts.
Meanwhile, halfway across the world, over the past seven decades, the Palestine issue has garnered global attention as Israel's occupation has led to severe human rights violations against Palestinians. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have engaged in what can only be described as genocide and ethnic cleansing under the guise of self-defense. The brutal policies, including indiscriminate bombings and targeting of civilians, reflect a sadistic mindset driven by Zionist ideology.
In Gaza, the situation has reached a dire point, with death and devastation pervasive and hope for revival fading. International law affirms the Palestinians' right to resist oppression, yet their plight remains unresolved amidst ongoing atrocities.
The suffering of Palestinians under Israeli occupation and oppression, alongside India's mistreatment of its minority Muslim population, highlights the pressing need for justice and accountability on the global stage. It is evident that achieving lasting peace and stability in the region necessitates the unwavering commitment to upholding the principles of human rights and dignity for all.
