DIY Face Masks for Radiant Skin

Spring is finally here, and we’re getting ready for the warmer weather, but as the seasons change, so does our skin. As our climate and lifestyle evolve, our skin’s condition also undergoes changes. Enhance your skin’s appearance with the help of do-it-yourself (DIY) masks, giving it a vibrant healthy glow as the weather changes.



Using natural remedies is the most effective way to achieve smooth, bright, and youthful skin. You can find many skin brightening ingredients used in pricey skin brightening products right in your pantry or kitchen. From combating dry, sensitive skin to much-needed brightening and glow, this article delves into some of the homemade DIY masks to make your skin looking fresh as a daisy.

Cacao, Papaya and Aloe Vera Face Mask
Great for dry, sensitive skin,  cacao, papaya, and aloe vera face mask will work wonders on your face. This all-natural face mask effectively exfoliates dead skin cells, resulting in smooth, glowing, and moisturized skin. It aids in minimizing the appearance of blemishes and acne scars.
What You Need
1 tsp of cacao powder
1 tbsp of fresh papaya or papaya extract
1 tbsp of aloe vera juice/ aloe vera gel
Mix all these ingredients together to form a smooth paste, and with the help of a clean brush apply to the face. Leave on for 20 minutes before rinsing off with water.
Turmeric and Lemon Juice Face Mask
The antioxidant component of turmeric combined with the skin brightening properties of vitamin C from the lemon makes this mask a potent mix leaving your face smooth, bright and healthy.
What You Need
1 tbsp of fresh turmeric, turmeric powder (juiced or pressed)
1 tbsp of fresh lemon juice
1 tbsp of honey 
Simply mix up, apply to specific areas (wear gloves to protect your hands) and leave on for 3 minutes before rinsing off. Repeat at least twice a week for about five weeks to see results.
Coffee and Raw Honey Face Mask
Coffee has anti-aging properties that minimize fine lines and locks in moisture in the skin. It reverses damage caused by ultraviolet rays and lightens acne, blemishes, dark skin, and pigmentation. Raw honey is a great natural exfoliator. It also contains gluconic acid and other alpha-hydroxy acids, which gently remove dead skin cells and brighten your skin’s complexion.
What You Need
1 tsp of coffee powder
1 tbsp of raw unfiltered honey
1 tbsp of plain yogurt (optional, for best results)
Mix all the ingredients into a bowl, apply, leave on for ten minutes, then wash it off with warm water.
Coconut Oil and Avocado Face Mask
With our skincare routines, exposure to city smog, and hay fever, our skin can easily become overwhelmed, leading to irritation and redness. Allow this DIY face mask formula to provide instant relief and relaxation for your skin.
What You Need
1 tsp of honey
1 tsp of coconut oil
¼ ripe avocado
2 drops of lavender oil
Mix it up and paint it on with a face mask brush for the ultimate at-home spa experience. This is a great mask for moisture and to calm the skin.

DIY face masks are perfectly safe, but there are a few at home products that you should avoid putting directly on to the skin without pre-mixing first, such as lemons and apple cider vinegar. These could make the skin sensitive and could also possibly cause skin irritation. Do a patch test first, like on the side of the neck before applying all over the face. Use only the mask with fresh ingredients and use it within an hour of mixing to be on the safe side. Ingredients exposed to air and bacteria will very quickly go off and could easily irritate the skin.  Make your mask with fresh ingredients and use it within an hour of mixing.
