The Ending Month of Year 2023

December 2023

This is the last month of year 2023. It’s time, you get prepared for the next year, 2024. It is an opportunity to reflect on the last 11 months, and think about what dreams you hoped to turn into reality. What was achieved, and what was left? With ‘New Year’ around the corner, it’s time to start working on your resolutions’ list. Whether it’s mastering the art, a new hobby or game, becoming a kinder version of yourself, or exploring new adventures, you can try to achieve whatever you wish and what you couldn’t do before.
Here is something to discover as to how we can make the best year coming next:
Analyze the Year Spent and Plan for the Next?
You need to analyze how did you spend the last 11 months or whether you achieved in accordance with the goals you set at the time of New Year’s beginning? This will lead you to correcting things for better, so that you do not repeat same mistakes next year.
Have a Positive Mind
You might have a sense of remorse for doing not much as you desired. Leave it. No need to think negative. Let’s welcome 2024 with positive mind and grateful heart. Be thankful for all the good you got, and be obliged for the lessons you learnt through the outgoing year.
I have an idea. Why not start writing a few positive lines; note it down in a daily diary? I keep a diary too. I call it “Gratitude Journal”. Make it a habit to write three things at least which you’re grateful for. You’ll see its positive impact on your mental health. This will wipe out negative self-talk, help reflect on your thoughts and express your feelings.
Spend Time with Family
If you are thinking that you wasted much of your leisure time in playing video games, or using the mobile phone, and that you could spare enough time for parents, siblings and especially grandparents, then no need to look back. Let’s correct our timings right now. Let’s start giving time to family from today onwards. I tell you, it will have magical effect. Spending time with them in fact strengthens bonds with the family, and create lasting memories. You can make a resolution of having a daily, weekly, fortnightly or monthly family get-to-gather, which can be anything. Like a trip to some place, a visit to playland, playing games like ludo or carrom board, having dinner together, etc. You can help your mom in the kitchen, or go on a walk with dad. Can’t you?
Start Exercise to Stay Fit
It’s time to change the lazy lifestyle, which you might have not overcome last year. What can be done? There’s a lot much to do, I tell you. Let’s engage in daily exercise to stay fit: you can follow activities like jump rope, running or riding a bike. Brisk walks keep our body fit and active. You can do a favourite sport like cricket, football or basketball, and stick to it for the whole year. Spending time outdoors can be as simple as a daily stretching routine for flexibility while giving your body its due intake of Vitamin D. If you can play outdoors every day for the next year, you’ll emerge as a more active person with improved mental cognition and better fitness. Let’s make 2024 a year of active growth!
Small Acts of Kindness
We can make our world a happier place with kindness. One smaller act of kindness gives a bigger satisfaction. You may say, you didn’t do well last year, but you can’t say you won’t follow this resolution next year. Let’s do atleast one act of kindness on one day. No matter how small it is. Now if you ask, what are the few acts of kindness? Isn’t it being nice to our friends, giving compliments to people around us, or helping others in many ways? Even using words like ‘please’, ‘sorry’ or ‘thank you’ are an act of kindness. Helping siblings in their homework, cheering up a sad friend, greeting the guard at the school gate, letting someone go ahead in queue, giving up seat for elders, or giving charity to the needy – must be our hobby.
Learn a New Skill
Having a skill, my friends, is the best thing to get busy in some constructive work. This helps explore our hidden talents. It’s best to decide on a skill and master it through the year. Learning a new language, how to write a short story, how to improve creativity; learning new vocabulary, doing paintings to unravel our artistic flair; and learning graphic designing or coding can help in our career coming ahead. You see, there’s a huge list – from gardening to photography, martial arts to DIY (do it yourself) skills – anything that ties up with interests can broaden our horizons and boost our self-confidence.
Eco-Friendly Lifestyle
From an early age, being considerate about environment-friendly practices can completely transform our climate landscape. Starting from 2024, we must pledge for eco-friendlier lifestyle. This includes recycling items, turning off lights, using stairs, driving less and walking more. Avoid use of plastics, whether it’s shopping bags or straws. We can always shift to eco-friendly solutions. Water conservation is another vital aspect of eco-friendly lifestyle. It can be as simple as setting a timer to reduce shower time or turning off the tap while brushing teeth.
Organizing Your Space
New year is a great time to declutter your life and organize things beforehand. You can slowly build up on good habits like getting rid of extra clothes and shoes, and giving them away in charity. This will clear out space and allow you to arrange all your things. Make it a habit to tidy up your room, clear your study table, organize your notes and assignments as it will help to stay on top of your studies. Organizing your space is a wonderful and practical resolution that can make a world of difference in your daily life.
Less Screen Time, More Reading
Replacing cellphones and TV with the habit of book-reading can completely transform you as a person altogether. Make it a priority to read books in your spare time, and explore all kinds of genres from fiction to history. There’s so much unexplored adventure stored in books that once you start reading, you won’t be able to put a book down. This will make you a better reader with improved vocabulary, enhanced concentration, and expanded general knowledge.
Conclusion
2023 has been a wonderful year, but we must not forget that our prime focus is to grow into well-rounded individuals. As the new year unfolds, let us allow ourselves to dream big, embrace the joy of learning, and always remember that it is not just about the destination, but the journey of self-improvement and growth that truly matters.
Happy goal-setting, and may the year ahead be filled with joy, success and the fulfillment of all your family's resolutions!
