6th International Pakistan Army Team Spirit (PATS) Competition-2023 was held at National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), Pabbi from March 07-11, 2023. Seven Pakistan Army teams and ten international teams from Bahrain, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), Morocco, Uzbekistan, Thailand, Jordan, the USA, Iraq, Kazakhstan and Qatar participated in the competition. Three observer countries, i.e., Azerbaijan, Myanmar, and Nigeria were also part of the 6th International PATS competition.
The competition was based on evaluating the physical endurance, mental agility and tactical proficiency of the combat teams. Over the years, the competition has gained much popularity and has become an international PATS competition, which provides an opportunity to the participating teams to learn, inspire and share experiences with one another, particularly from Pakistan Army’s experience of fight against terrorism.
Sixty hours long rigorous competition continued from March 7-9, 2023. The competition continued day and night in the mountainous and rugged terrain of Pabbi. Over the years, the competition has gained much popularity and has become an international team spirit evaluation event.
The exercise comprised of 25 events to evaluate physical and mental endurance, tactical and technical skills and team work of the participants. Inland winning team will represent Pakistan Army in Exercise Cambian Patrol, which will be held in Wales, UK, from October 6-15, 2023.
The 6th International PATS was concluded at NCTC, Pabbi on March 11, 2023. Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Syed Asim Munir graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
While addressing the ceremony, COAS appreciated the participating teams for their professionalism, endurance and high morale displayed during various stages of the exercise. COAS reiterated, “As a training exercise, PATS appropriately replicates the degree of emphasis given by all armies on physical fitness, combat skills and teamwork of their troops in the face of evolving character of warfare. “To this end, Pakistan Army upholds soldierly attributes of courage, mutual cooperation, resilience and competence which have been displayed during our ongoing fight against terrorism”. COAS also gave away prizes and medals to the participants of the competition. Amongst the international teams, Gold Medal was won by Bahrain, Jordon and Uzbekistan; Silver Medal was won by Kazakhstan, KSA (Team 1), Morocco and Thailand; and Bronze Medal won by Iraq, KSA (Team 2) and Qatar. Amongst the national teams, Gold Medal was won by 1 Corps and 10 Corps, Silver Medal by 4 Corps and 30 Corps, and Bronze Medal by 31 Corps team
35 FF from 10 Corps was the runner-up and 67 Punjab from 1 Corps won the 6th International Pakistan Army Spirit Competition-2023.
International observers and Defence Attaches of the participating countries also attended the ceremony.
