Field Medical Camps are established by volunteer healthcare professionals, especially in the remote areas, where people do not have access to basic healthcare services and knowledge of hygienic practices/products. Besides being extremely professional, Pakistan Army has always been in the leading role to provide basic quality health facilities by establishing field medical camps to help the residents of the remote areas, drought-hit regions and the areas being affected by any calamity.
The coastal belt of Balochistan is generally deprived of an effective healthcare infrastructure. To address the issue, 44 Special Security Division, in line with the Army’s policy, has established a number of free medical camps providing medical care to the less privileged residents of Makran Division.
Amongst the local residents, fishermen community is the most deprived of basic healthcare. Owing to their profession and financial conditions, it had been difficult for the fishermen to visit hospitals and get the paid treatments. To address this issue of a grave nature, Pakistan Army has started organizing special free medical camps for the fishermen community near Gwadar Jetty and other locations in close vicinity of fishermen community’s residences. The selection of locations for organizing medical camps was planned and executed meticulously, keeping in view the ease of access for fishermen and their families.
The medical teams at the camps include qualified doctors and experienced paramedical staff from Army Medical Corps. A large number of patients including women and children have also been provided free medical treatment and medicines at the camps. The patients are also being enlightened about common infections, personal health and hygiene, child healthcare, prevention of water-borne diseases and general sanitation of the living areas. The medical staff also distributed bilingual pamphlets to spread awareness regarding dengue and seasonal influenza. A dedicated ambulance has also been placed at Jetty round the clock to meet any eventuality.
The locals have appreciated the efforts of Pakistan Army, recognizing the establishment of medical camps as being extremely helpful for the underprivileged populace of the coastal belt.
