Peace Within and Peace Without

March 2023

As a result of the determined, devoted and practical efforts of our founding fathers, Pakistan was created as a new force in South Asia on August 14, 1947, in accordance with the Two-Nation Theory. Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah fought tirelessly for the constitutional victory of achieving Pakistan. He devoted his life to the struggle for independence and the establishment of an independent nation-state. His legal struggles were instrumental in securing constitutional rights for Muslims in British India and ultimately led to the creation of an independent state. In an address in Chittagong on March 26, 1948, he stated, “I reiterate most emphatically that Pakistan was made possible because of the danger of complete annihilation of human society based on caste. Now that the soul is free to exist and to aspire, it must assert itself galvanizing not only the state but also the nation.”
Pakistan Resolution Day is an important day in the history of Pakistan. It commemorates the day in 1940 when the All India Muslim League (AIML) passed a resolution calling for the establishment of a Muslim nation in South Asia. The significance of this resolution cannot be overstated, as it laid down the foundation of what would eventually become modern-day Pakistan.
Today, the Kashmiris in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) are not fighting for the right to be considered as ‘equal’ Indian citizens with rights guaranteed by the Indian state. Liberal commentators in India are mostly responsible for the notion that Kashmiris want equal citizenship with Indians. This argument obscures the true motivation for the Kashmiri struggle, which is not a desire for closer ties to India, but rather for self-determination. This may be observed in the way that the ongoing campaign, known in Kashmir as Tehreek, has been driven by a call for a referendum and plebiscite rather than more rights within the Indian union.
For them, freedom means being totally freed from India's illegitimate occupation and all the institutions that support it. These systems, which function as many forms of authority working towards the same goal—the continuous enslavement of Kashmir—include not only the military, but also the economic, cultural, and legal machinery.
Conversely, Pakistan is a free country with a long and proud history of resilience. The people of Pakistan have persevered in the face of adversity despite countless difficulties. From its independence in 1947 to the present day, Pakistan has faced many obstacles, but has always managed to come out on top.
Having an extraordinarily central strategic location, Pakistan by virtue of developments along its eastern and western borders, has been touched by the mutuality of these factors. The environment surrounding global security is drastically changing. The resulting changes and evolution have a variety of effects on both industrialized and developing nations. In this sense, Pakistan has been impacted in a number of different ways as one of the key players in the regional security dynamics.
The country has seen a significant reduction in terrorist attacks since the introduction of successful counterterrorism operations. With the help of these operations, Pakistan has managed to significantly reduce the number of terrorist attacks, the success of which is attributed to the strong will and determination of Pakistan’s security forces, who worked tirelessly to ensure that terrorism does not take root in their homeland. By working together with other countries in the region and beyond, Pakistan was able to create a safe environment for its citizens. Following the return of these attacks, Pakistan's security forces are once more concentrating on the security operations to make the nation secure.
During his visit to Karachi, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Syed Asim Munir emphasized, “Terrorists have no religious or ideological moorings, rather only misguided conception forced through coercion or inducement. Contrary to political and other distractions being faced by the public, the security forces remain singularly focused on counter-terrorism and Intelligence Based Operations (IBOs) which are being conducted all over the country with pronounced success… No nation can overcome such challenges with kinetic actions only. It needs mutual trust, will of the people and synergy between all the stakeholders. Pakistanis have always rejected and defeated terrorism and extremism in all its manifestations. Together we shall prevail upon this menace for a shared prosperous future.”
