Dear Kids, Assalam-o-Alaikum!
April in Pakistan is always special as it marks the arrival of spring season, the opening of spring festivals, and the beginning of new classes in schools. It is also special because of the global celebration of the planet earth. As the world observes Earth Day on April 22, Hilal for Kids plays its part of role to remind you of your responsibility to protect and cherish our earth. While highlighting the impacts and consequences of environmental pollution, global warming and climate change, we invite you to take a moment to reflect upon how we can contribute to a greener, cleaner and healthier earth globe. Whether it’s planting a tree, reducing waste, or learning about sustainable practices, every small effort counts. In this issue, we have included fun activities and tips to help you become an eco-warrior in your own way. Remember, the earth is our home, and it’s up to us to keep it clean, green and beautiful.
With the arrival of spring also starts the season of spring festivals from north to south of Pakistan, which attract not only local people but also tourists from across the country to come together and celebrate the beauty of nature. It is a season of renewal and joy. From the colorful blossoms of Punjab to the vibrant traditions of Sindh, from the exciting sites of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to the lively customs of Balochistan, and from the olden funs of Gilgit-Baltistan to the scenic views of Azad Jammu & Kashmir – these festivals represent the rich cultural magnificence of our beloved homeland. Let’s embrace the spirit of spring by appreciating the wonders of nature and the diversity of our heritage.
For students, the month of April significantly marks the start of a new academic year especially at the primary and middle levels. The school exams’ result is routinely announced on 31st March and the lucky ones are promoted to next class. It is really a time of excitement and exuberance, new friendships and new resolves. It provides you new opportunities to learn more and grow further. Going into the next level or a new class also poses you new challenges. What you need to do is, “turn the challenge into an opportunity by discovering your own talent and potential.” The best way to discover this potential is, “stay curious, ask questions, and never stop exploring the world of knowledge.”
Dear Young Minds!
To enhance your general knowledge, we have a treat for you – the young scientists! Here in this edition, we have brought you the inspiring tale of Prophet Idris (AS) as part of our ongoing series on the stories of the prophets (PBUH). Hazrat Idris (AS) was known for his deep interest in the knowledge of stars and the universe; his beautiful story reminds us of the importance of seeking knowledge and understanding the world around us. Let his curiosity and wisdom inspire you to explore the mysteries of the cosmos. And if you read Allama Iqbal’s poetry, you will see that his love of the stars and skies is probably also driven from the legacy of Hazrat Idris (AS). On Iqbal’s death anniversary on 21st April, we have highlighted his particular emphasis on youth and children to seek knowledge, and touch the heights of glory and success:
“The youth to whom the stars are not out of bounds,
Are the ones I love indeed.”
Enjoy reading, many cheers!
