Pakistani Women Make history by Scaling K2

Samina Baig became the first Pakistani woman to summit K2, the world’s second highest mountain and most difficult to scale. She reached the top of the 8,611-metre peak early Friday on July 22, 2022, as part of a seven-member local team, and was followed hours later by a second Pakistani woman, Dubai-based Naila Kiani.

Baig had already summited the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest, in Nepal in 2013. She is also the first and only Pakistani to climb the seven highest peaks of the world, known as the Seven Summits.
President Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated Samina Baig and Naila Kiani on sumitting K2.
