Shandur Polo Festival-2022 Concludes

The three-day long Shandur Polo Festival-2022 concluded with colorful celebrations. Held at the polo field at the height of 12,264 feet, the festival is one of its kind. During the recently held festival, more than 15,000 tourists visited on a daily basis.



The final match was played between polo teams of Chitral and Gilgit-Baltistan. Shandur Polo Trophy was won by Chitral team in a nail-biting final match by a narrow margin of 10-9 goals. 
During the ceremony, local artists performed traditional dances of Kailash and Chitral, whereas school children presented colorful tableaus. The highlight of the closing ceremony was parajumps by Special Services Group (SSG) commandos and demonstration of power-gliding and paragliding by personnel from Army School of Physical Training, Abbottabad. 
Musical program symbolising the cultures of Chitral and Gilgit-Baltistan, coupled with impressive fireworks energised the tourists on the night before the final match.
Inspector General Frontier Corps (North), Major General Adil Yamin, was the Chief Guest at the closing ceremony. He lauded the players for displaying excellent standards during the festival. He also distributed prizes and trophies among the winners.
