Pakistan Navy hosted Indian Ocean Naval Symposium Working Group and Preparatory Workshop. 28 delegates from 16 countries participated in these events. The first event i.e., IONS Working Group (IWG) on “Information Sharing and Interoperability” was led by Pakistan Navy with Australia, Oman, Bangladesh, Thailand, France, United Arab Emirates and India as members. The Working Group discussed modalities on how to share information and improve interoperability amongst participating states to generate synergetic response against evolving threats.
The second event i.e., IONS Preparatory Workshop (IPW), was co-chaired by Australia and Pakistan.
The participation of navies and maritime security agencies from 16 countries in the event truly reflects the strength of naval diplomacy, amply highlights Pakistan Navy’s recognition amongst regional as well as extra regional countries as an important player in the region and sends out clear message that Pakistan is a peace loving country and desires to have cordial relationships with the member nations of IONS as well as the other countries across the globe.
