Inauguration Ceremony of College of Army Education Held at Rawalpindi

College of Army Education (CAE) had been functional till 2010 in Upper Topa, Murree. After its disbandment, professional and academic training of Army Education Corps (AEC) officers, Junior Commissioned Officers and khateebs remained suspended, although Special to Arm courses of AEC resumed in Garrison Human Resource Development Centre, Rawalpindi in 2014. However, a need was felt to revive CAE. This dream was ultimately realized and CAE was inaugurated on October 11, 2022 at Garrison Human Resource Development Centre, Rawalpindi. Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Qamar Javed Bajwa, NI (M) graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. A number of general officers including Quarter Master General, Lieutenant General Syed Asim Munir Ahmad Shah, Inspector General Training & Evaluation, Lieutenant General Syed Muhammad Adnan, Commander 10 Corps, Lieutenant General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations, Lieutenant General Babar Iftikhar, Director General Human Resource Development Directorate, Major General Tahir Gulzar Malik, Principal Secretary to Chief of Army Staff, Major General Muhammad Irfan, Director General Personnel Administration Directorate, Major General Adil Yamin, Director General Organization and Methods Directorate, Major General Ghulam Shabeer Narejo, veterans, serving officers, Junior Commissioned Officers and khateebs of Army Education Corps attended the inauguration ceremony. 



On this occasion, Director General Human Resource Development Directorate, Major General Tahir Gulzar Malik, briefed the Chief Guest about the development of CAE and its role in the professional and academic training of all ranks of Pakistan Army. The building where CAE has been established has a very rich and unique history. This place was used as a parliament at the time of President of Pakistan, Field Marshal General Muhammad Ayub Khan. Later on, National Defence College (NDC) was shifted to the same place. In 1995, NUST Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies (NIPCONS) was established here after shifting NDC to Islamabad.
COAS, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, NI (M) addressed the audience and laid emphasis on the importance of education in general and in military organizations in particular. He said that no nation could progress without quality education. On the eve of inauguration, COAS appreciated the efforts of Director General Human Resource Development Directorate, Commandant Garrison Human Resource Development Centre, Army Education Corps Officers, Junior Commissioned Officers and khateebs in the revival of CAE. He graciously granted approval of funds for renovation and development of the college and purchase of state-of-the-art training aids for professional training in CAE. Besides this, COAS also ensured that AEC officers will be given opportunities to pursue higher studies in foreign universities and attend courses abroad. CAE is now destined to play its greater role with rejuvenated zeal and commitment.
At the end, Inspector General Training and Evaluation, Lieutenant General Syed Muhammad Adnan, HI (M) presented college souvenir to the Chief Guest.
