China and Pakistan are true friends and good brothers that share weal and woe. The friendship between our two peoples has withstood the international situation and the test of time, and has become a valuable asset for both countries.
In 2015, during President Xi Jinping’s visit to Pakistan, the two sides jointly elevated China-Pakistan relations to All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership, and promoted the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor into fast-track. Since then, significant progress has been made in various fields of cooperation, which laid a solid foundation for China and Pakistan to jointly cope with the current international and regional situation changes and global challenges, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. Under the guidance of the leadership of both countries, the two sides are carrying forward traditional friendship, deepening strategic mutual trust, building China-Pakistan Economic Corridor with high-quality and advancing the building of an even stronger China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era, which are creating benefits for the two peoples, providing impetus for regional cooperation and contributing to world peace.
This year marks the 95th anniversary of the founding of Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA). The PLA was established and led by the Communist Party of China (CPC). Since its creation, it has always acted and fought under the absolute leadership of the CPC. It has gone through wars and difficult times, making great sacrifices in exchange for more and more glorious victories, achieving great historical merit on behalf of the CPC and the Chinese people. The PLA will always follow the CPC's leadership, and will focus closely on realizing the CPC's goal of building a strong military in the new era, namely building the people's military into a world-class military, by which it can fight and win, and maintain excellent conduct. The PLA will always stay true to its original aspiration and founding mission with tireless efforts, resolutely safeguard national sovereignty, security and development interests, and boldly advance toward fulfilling the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation!
The military-to-military relations, serving as the mainstay of the China-Pakistan friendship, have played an important role in the development of bilateral relations for a long time. The two sides have conducted all-round, wide-ranging and multi-level exchanges, and deepened cooperation in multiple fields such as defense and security consultations, troops and personnel training, academic exchanges and other non-traditional security areas. In June this year, General Qamar Javed Bajwa led a senior-level tri-service military delegation and paid a successful visit to China. During the meeting, General Zhang Youxia, Vice Chairman of China’s Central Military Commission, noted that China and Pakistan have kept close coordination and firmly supported each other on issues concerning each other’s core interests. General Bajwa remarked that Pakistan-China friendship is unbreakable and rock-solid. Pakistan will stand firmly with China at any time, no matter how the international and regional situation changes. This high level strategic communication between the two sides has set up an important platform for our military collaborations on all aspects, which will serve effectively to push forward our military-to-military relationship to a new level.
China highly appreciates the role of Pakistan’s military in safeguarding the territorial sovereignty, independence and security of Pakistan, and in promoting regional peace and stability. No matter how the international and regional situation changes, the Chinese military is willing to further strengthen strategic communication with its Pakistani counterpart, and promote military-to-military cooperation to a higher level, constantly enriching the connotation of bilateral strategic cooperation.
